Content Focus and Philosophy

I am really looking forward to teaching social studies on a secondary level. I love this subject content. I have always had a natural ability to tell stories and relate them to modern day. I believe that this will help me be a better teacher in History, Geography and Sociology.

My philosophy of education is more socialist then our current system. I believe the following.
- Everyone who has the ability should be able to attend college at no cost.
- Everyone should have equal access to quality education.
- Teacher's salaries should be subsidized by the federal government at a level of other professionals.
- Teachers should be rated by merit and performance.

  1. I think your interest and passion in social studies comes through in your classroom discussions. The ability to tell stories will most definitely help you as a teacher. I think you will make a very good social studies teacher.

  2. I really like your idea that everyone should have equal access to quality education. I know we've talked about it a lot in our classes... it is definitely something that is hard to obtain but such a crucial thing. Also, i really like your idea that teachers should be valued as other professionals and be paid as such. It's really pretty unbelievable that teachers are so under valued... I'm drawn to your ideas and your perspective on education. It's different and bold. I think that we need that.
